Watch: ‘Daya’ – Kaav

Three dudes from Vypin island, Kochi got together last year and formed an instrumental prog-rock band called Kaav. Syam N Pai on guitar, Shabeer P Ali on bass, and Arun S Kumar on drums concoct a mixture of Indian classical and alternative reminiscent of a more ethnic Oceansize.

They seem strongly influenced by the coastal lifestyle and natural beauty around them, which shows in their first video; a stop-motion look at the gorgeous city of Cochin, shot and edited by the band members themselves, set to their song ‘Daya’. The track is part of a three song EP released by the band, produced by Motherjane‘s Baiju Dharmarajan. Check it out below.

    Beautiful track.
Has a post-rock feel to it. Only if they added some atmospheric drones.

The song is…catchy, cute… and indeed post-rocky. The video is beautiful. I really really like it. It has that Super 8 feel to it.
