Watch: ‘Move’ – Dub L.F.O

Dub LFOWhen Israeli alt-reggae act Dub L.F.O played the Blue Frog last May, we were immediately taken by the band’s energy. The gig was one of our picks for Best Gig International ‘08, and we said at the time

When an Israeli band plays Jamaican music in India to an audience of equal part foreigners and Indians, you know globalisation is doing its job.

The band’s gig at the Blue Frog was part of a national tour that saw it travel to, among other places, the north-east. The quintet from Tel Aviv played gigs in Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Assam as part of the Roots Festival tour and were followed by the folks over at Babble Fish Productions (whose documentary on the festival is a must-watch).

‘Move’ is a selection of clips of the band’s performances in the north-east, montaged to clips of civil unrest in these areas. The song itself is anti-establishment-ish, and is a particularly good representation of the band’s sound.

Ah. I love this band. Remember seeing them at Morrison last year, danced all night. I often visit their Myspace page. I hope they come back soon!
