Trust Cornershop to come up with a lyric like
In 1974, in his State address to Congress, Gurkhal Surjan, Patwallia Dist., stated that the world will be tested by Texas Instruments, and English diction.
Remember Cornershop? And their late ’90s single ‘Brimful of Asha’? “Everybody needs a bosom for a pillow”? The band hasn’t has a studio full length release since 2002’s Handcream For A Generation. They’re back however, with a new single from their coming album (scheduled for a July release) Cornering The Market.
‘The Roll Off Characteristics (Of History In The Making)’ is classic Cornershop – witty lyrics and a sing-along melody. The video for the single was directed by Prashant Bhargava, who directed an indie film (titled Patang) about the kite festival in Ahmedabad, scenes from which are used in this video. According to the band’s MySpace
Well before the current interest in India as a different locational source for film, Chicago’s award winning Grafitti artist turned award winning Film-maker and Designer Prashant Bhargava put together his film Patang – this feature length drama is set during the jubilant atmosphere of India’s largest kite festival. Luckily for us he also did a video for “The Roll Off Characteristics”
The video features a wedding band, much shaadi style dancing and a killer sunglasses moment right at the end.
