The closer of their Pune set, ‘Bad Kids’ ended a tough night for Black Lips. The Pune crowd greeted the Atlanta punk rockers with a shower of plastic bottles. The band performed the headlining slot at the zonal round of Campus Rock Idols, coming on stage after the Pune audience had been treated to eight continous hours of metal and hard rock.

The show last night in Chennai was nuts. The promoter, DNA was treating the fans like crap, not letting us stand near the stage. I think the band had had enough of DNA and decided to take matters into their own hands and after only being allowed a short set (as if they were just another one of the college bands) some shenanigans ensued. Some well appreciated crowd surfing and guitar smashing is just the start. They gave their new fans a little rock and roll gift, a hell of a show and something they’ll never forget. I’d say India is ready for the Black Lips, Indian corporate sponsorship is not.
