Your guide to the top gigs in town (Mumbai town), weekly.
Last week was a monster gig week. The Supersonics kicked things off with a killer set at Hard Rock Cafe. This was followed by Ashutosh Phatak’s consecutive disappointment at the Blue Frog. And rounded off by Advaita and Indigo Children (formerly known as The Superfuzz) on Sunday.
This week’s gig picks are.
Lounge Piranha hit Hard Rock Cafe on Tuesday night for the Mumbai leg of their Going Nowhere tour. Look forward to songs from the new EP (LP) and multi-instrumentalist mayhem. The Bangalore boys will also have on their person copies of the new disc (at Rs 150 a pop).
On Wednesday, Rodney Branigan (UK) revisits the Blue Frog. I caught him at the same venue earlier this year and was impressed. Why? The dude plays two guitars, simultaneously. The ambidextrous virtuouso brings back his brand of pop-alternative to Mumbai. If you haven’t seen his show before, you should make it for what will most likely be a half-full Wednesday night at the Frog.

Cant wait for the Lounge Piranha gig. The stuff on their myspace sounds cool, espcially Gun song. Hopefully they will have the digeridoo guy also.
