Your guide to the top gigs in town (Mumbai town), weekly.

The gig lineup for this week is pretty strong and if you’re wondering what to do on any of the coming five nights, there’s plenty. Here’s the top gig picks for this week.

Them Clones play back to back sets at the Blue Frog on Tuesday and Wednesday. The sets on both days promise (according to Facebook) to be different.

30th Sept (Day 1) will be an unplugged tribute to the Alternative Rock bands from the 90’s: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Incubus, and others (with maybe an original or four thrown in - as a preview to the 2nd day!)

1st October (Day 2) will feature all originals, many of which have become crowd favorites in Mumbai.

Shaa’ir + Func play a set on Friday at D’Ultimate. Other acts at the same gig are DJ Kris Correya and the Bombay Elektrik Project.

Indiecision will be at at least one of the Them Clones sets. So if you spot one to two bespectacled people being pestered by waiters and a girl clicking pictures very fast, say hello.

Them Clones are a five piece alternative act from New Delhi. They've been around for a while and are currently one of India's top live acts. Their new album has been in the works for an inordinately long period of time.

The Subways created much ruckus with 2005’s Young For Eternity and it’s lead single ‘Rock & Roll Queen’. They were, um, young; fresh blood with a raw spirit that translated into a loud album and a world tour. The potential for a sophomore that didn’t live up to expectations was tremendous. And in that regard, The Subways do not disappoint.

Jihae (South Korea/NYC) is a singer/songwriter in the vein of Aimee Mann and Fiona Apple (but more Aimee Mann). Her new album Elvis Is Still Alive was released Nov 11.
